Our Standards
Oldham Total Care believe that our residents and employees should be at the centre of all we do. By working in partnership, with fairness, openness, and respect, we take responsibility for actions and decisions made, and remain accountable in all aspects.

Community First
The success of Total Care is owing to its people. We believe it is vital to recruit the right staff – those who share our commitment when it comes to taking care of others. Every member of staff at Total Care plays a significant role in providing the best possible environment in which to care for our residents.
One of the most valuable assets of any business is its workforce. The dedication to our residents and a commitment to the business is evident from the length of service in our team. In return for this commitment to both our clients and our organisation, Total Care supports opportunities for advancement in their chosen career or profession – which in turn, provides better services and skills to the benefit of our clients.
On-site training allows Total Care to ensure that all staff have the required training opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge into a career, and to provide services of the best quality for our residents.

Our workforce strategy, aligned to that of Adult Social Care in the borough, is to ‘grow our own’. As such, we offer work placements via Oldham College across all areas of the business. We are exploring placements with the local universities and offer places for training hosted on site at OTC to other providers and community services.
We are moving towards value-based recruitment which focuses on the person, their abilities and passion, and not just qualifications. Whilst key roles such as nurses, must have the relevant training and professional registration, our values focusing on supporting residents to be as independent, healthy, safe and well as possible, and at the heart of all decisions, are key to recruitment.
All employment is subject to two references, and a DBS check. Induction starts as soon as possible and is provided via a combination of e-learning, shadowing and in person training, such as moving and handling.
Our Quality Matron leads the quality improvement programme, co-ordinates audits of resident care files, oversight of staff training and engagement with residents, families and the local community.
