Saddleworth Suite
Total Care consists of six individual units across the home. Each unit has its own identity with a purpose to provide tailored, focused care by a dedicated team of specialised nursing and care staff as relevant to the complex needs of the residents.
The Suite
The Saddleworth Suite is accredited as a Dementia care (EMI) nursing unit and is staffed by experienced nurses with mental health and general nursing qualifications. Care assistants have access to NVQ training at levels 2 and 3 in direct care and specialist courses in the care of clients with long term mental health needs.
All residents are allocated a named nurse on admission who leads a team of care assistants and a key worker. This usually takes the form of a care assistant who takes a special interest in the resident as well as helping with personal care and functions as a link between the resident, their family and the nursing staff.
In addition to en suite facilities, there are four bathrooms with assisted bathing facilities. All bedrooms are fully furnished and include nurse call facilities and televisions. Permanent residence is offered to clients over the age of 65.
Residents may make use of their own spacious lounge area or relax in the pleasant lounge/dining area. Equipment is available for sensory support and quieter time. The Saddleworth Suite also benefits from having an enclosed garden area which is both accessible and secure.
A programme of activities is available and includes music, physical and alternative therapy led by the activity co-ordinator team. Visits by health care staff and the provision of specialised equipment enable us to care for our clients in the pleasant surroundings of this dedicated suite. We welcome participation by families and value the contribution made in understanding the preferences and appreciating the knowledge and life experiences of our residents.
